Secure application delivery across cloud and edge environments and data centers

F5 Distributed Cloud

F5 Distributed Cloud is a cloud-based platform that facilitates the secure and high-performance delivery of applications across multiple cloud environments, edge locations, and data centers.

It enables organizations to manage and secure applications with a unified platform, ensuring that traffic is efficiently routed and applications are protected from threats. F5 Distributed Cloud is built to support hybrid and multi-cloud architectures, edge computing, and microservices.
Application delivery: Optimizes traffic routing to ensure fast, reliable application performance. This includes global load balancing, intelligent traffic management, and failover to reduce downtime.

Security: It offers a range of security services such as Web Application Firewall (WAF), Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection, bot defense, API security, and encryption to protect applications against external and internal threats.

Global network: F5 Distributed Cloud operates a global network of Points of Presence (PoPs), which helps to distribute traffic globally, provide redundancy, and reduce latency for users by routing them to the nearest data center or cloud location.

Multi-Ccloud networking: Supports multi-cloud networking, which allows secure, consistent, and reliable application delivery across different cloud environments like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or private data centers.

Edge computing: It extends application delivery and security services to the network edge, closer to users, reducing latency and improving the user experience.

Microservices and APIs: The platform is designed for modern, cloud-native applications using microservices and APIs, enabling developers to deploy, manage, and secure microservices-based architectures across clouds and edge locations.
Global application delivery: F5 Distributed Cloud uses its PoPs across the globe to distribute and manage application traffic. When a user requests access to an application, their traffic is routed through the nearest PoP, ensuring low latency and high availability.

Security layers: As traffic passes through the F5 Distributed Cloud, multiple security measures are applied, such as DDoS mitigation, and bot protection. These layers prevent malicious actors from exploiting vulnerabilities and ensure data privacy through encryption.

Multi-cloud connectivity: F5 Distributed Cloud connects various cloud environments and data centers. It ensures that applications hosted in different clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.) can communicate securely and seamlessly. This is crucial for organizations that have distributed applications across multiple clouds.

Edge services: By extending its services to the edge, the platform can process traffic and data closer to the user, reducing the time required for data to travel back and forth to central cloud locations. This is particularly beneficial for latency-sensitive applications, such as IoT or real-time data analytics.

Management and orchestration: F5 Distributed Cloud offers centralized control over the entire infrastructure, allowing organizations to manage traffic, apply security policies, and monitor performance through a single pane of glass. It also integrates with CI/CD pipelines to automate application updates and security patches.
